Back-to-school time again, and I honestly don’t know where the years have gone. Feels like only a hot minute ago JC was marching off into P1 with a school bag twice the size of him… and now here he is, heading into his AS and A levels. Time, you’re a thief.

Your mum (DC) and I couldn’t be prouder of the young man you’ve grown into. You’ve got a heart that’s kind, a head that’s switched on, and a work ethic that puts many adults to shame (including me some days!).

It’s been such a joy to watch you flourish, not just at school, but also in KA, where you’ve really rolled up your sleeves and shown what you’re made of. Who knew that the little boy who once thought tidying his room was hard labour would be thriving in the hotel world?
We know the next two years won’t always be easy – AS and A levels are a proper challenge – but if there’s one thing we know about you, JC, it’s that you don’t shy away from hard work. And we’ll be right behind you, cheering you on, even if we embarrass you now and then.
I have to admit, moments like this make me think about my own mum and dad. I miss them more than words can say, but I know they’d be so proud of the person you’re becoming. In many ways, you’re carrying forward the best of them too.
And lets not forget Francie and Bernie , who cheer you on from No 68, Let’s be honest — JC, you’re officially the favourite grandson (don’t tell anyone else though) and DC, of course, still holds the title of favourite daughter - or should that read 'Black Sheep' - only joking DC....
So here’s to you, son. Keep being you – hardworking, kind, determined (and occasionally cheeky). Mum and I love you more than you’ll ever know, and we’re excited to see where these next steps take you.
